Nomadland won the Oscar for best picture on Sunday, while the film's director Chloé Zhao made history as the first woman of color to win the Academy Award for best director.
Frances McDormand also won the Oscar for best actress in the film, which follows a woman who leaves her small town to join a group of wanderers in the American West.
"I have always found goodness in the people I've met everywhere I went in the world," Zhao said during her best director acceptance speech. "This is for anyone who has the faith and the courage to hold on to the goodness in themselves and to hold on to the goodness in others no matter how difficult it is to do that."
Earlier, Youn Yuh-Jung became the first South Korean actress to win the Academy Award for best-supporting actress.
Youn won for her performance in Minari, which is based partly on the life story of director Lee Isaac Chung.
